Outgoing Students

You are planning to go abroad for one semester and want to gain new intercultural experiences during your studies? With scholarships like Erasmus and Promos you can apply for a place at one of our partner universities.

Here you can find a general overview for outgoings from JGU International:

  • The Outgoing Team of the International Relations Department (INT) of JGU offers informational events on foreign-related topics every semester on Wednesdays at 5 pm. You can find the presentations here
  • There are new interesting current scholarship announcements for study and research projects abroad.

Possible countries and partner universities by subjects:

Chemistry / Biomedical Chemistry (only german): target countries Chemistry

  • Allocation of Erasmus+ study place by Erasmus coordinator in the department
  • Usually application procedure once a year during the winter semester for a study abroad at the partner university for the coming academic year, i.e. winter semester AND summer semester.
  • Application deadlines: Geography: 01.01., Geosciences: 31.01., Pharmaceutical Sciences: 31.01., Chemistry/BMC: 31.01.
  • Application for Erasmus+ following confirmation of place by 28.02. at the latest.
  • Common selection criteria: academic and personal motivation, study plans, previous academic achievements, language skills, social aspects.
  • No application deadline for allocation of the internship place
  • financial support through Erasmus+ mobility grant for regularly enrolled students via the EU-Servicepoint of the International Affairs Department, JGU
  • funding is available for compulsory internships and voluntary internships related to studies, which are recognized by the department or recognized via the EUROPASS
  • a full-time internship must be completed
  • an internship can take different forms: physical presence of at least 2 months (long term), blended mobility, which includes a physical presence of 5-30 days (short term) in a participating country as well as a virtual component.
  • Deadline for application ERASMUS+ Internship Grant: at the latest 2 months before the start of the internship.
  • Please also contact the EU-Service Point if you are planning an internship abroad at short notice so that it can be checked whether funding is possible. Retroactive funding is not possible.

RISE stands for Research Internships in Science and Engineering:

  • The program is aimed at bachelor students from the natural sciences, life sciences and engineering: RISE worldwide (daad.de)
  • The internships last between one and a half and three months
  • The internships take place in the summer during the lecture-free period
  • Researchers from accredited university institutes and research facilities around the world offer internship projects
  • Working language is usually English
  • The DAAD arranges and supports the students with a scholarship
  • Application period: 01 November - 15 December of a year for a summer internship in the following year. Exception: Canada - each September of a year

International Study and Training Partnerships (ISAP) is a DAAD funding program for a 6-month study stay at the:

  • Kyushu University, Japan
  • Seoul National University, South Korea

  • Application deadline: End of November for ISAP programs for 2024/25
  • PROMOS-Scholarship: The "Program to Increase the Mobility of German Students" mainly supports stays abroad in non-European countries for up to half a year. JGU Mainz participates in PROMOS by offering the following funding lines: study scholarships, research stays for theses, internships, language courses/specialized courses, study trips.
  • GOstralia!-GOzealand! arranges together with Australian universities numerous grade-independent full and partial scholarships (50%) for a foreign term with study start 2023.
